Recently, it was announced that three members of the Penn State wrestling team would be competing in the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic Nov. 22 in Austin, Texas. The event features 13 men’s and women’s matches and All-American wrestlers in all weight classes. The event is returning after a four-year hiatus.

Headlining will be defending national champion and  Penn State star Carter Starocci. Starocci will face Virginia Tech’s Mekhi Lewis in a national championship rematch at the 174-pound weight class.

Another Penn State individual national champion, Aaron Brooks will wrestle Parker Keckeisen. This matchup pits the top two wrestlers in the 184-pound class.

The final Penn State wrestler participating is the event is Greg Kerkvliet, the No. 2 heavyweight in the nation. Kerkvliet will be going up against Tony Cassioppi from Iowa, ranked fourth.

Penn State had five individuals win national championships and the team national championship in 2022. The Nittany Lions are the odds-on favorites to win an NCAA record 11th national championship and the tenth in the last 13 years this season.
