Fresh off being named as one of the 13 finalists for the 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy, Penn State senior quarterback Sean Clifford’s off-field work has continued to garner recognition.
Clifford was named to the 2021 Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team. 109 student-athletes from each level of college football were nominated for the prestigious award, honorees being nominated by sports information directors for exemplary community service, academic dedication and impact on and off the field.

As a member of the 2021 Good Work Team, Allstate supplied Clifford with $10,000 dollars to be used for his charity work. A graduate student Penn State, studying journalism, Clifford has been heavily involved in the community since arriving in Happy Valley in arriving in 2017.
The other honorees are Pitt’s Cal Adomitis, Ole Miss’s Mac Brown, Georgia’s Nakobe Dean, USC’s Mo Hasan, Kentucky’s Kenneth Horsey, Vanderbilt’s Elijah McAllister, Flordia State’s Camren McDonald, Ohio State’s Harry Miller, Washington’s Race Porter and Clemson’s Darien Rencher for the FBS level.
The FCS, Division II, III and NAIA honorees are Minot State’s Phillip Green, North Carolina Central’s Jessie Malit, Davidson’s Chibuike Odi, Dixie State’s Deven Osborne, Ashland’s Austin Phillips, UC Davis’s Hunter Rodrigues, Bethel’s Juran Roste, Texas A&M-Commerce’s Alex Shillow, South Dakota’s DeValon Whitcomb and Wayne State’s Julius Wilkerson.
A senior this season, Clifford has passed for 1,647 yards and 12 touchdowns on 137-of-212 passing attempts. He’s also ran for 145 yards and two more touchdowns.
The Nittany Lions are 5-2 this season, suffering back-to-back losses to Iowa and Illinois, but with games against Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State still left on the schedule, Clifford and Lions can continue to make an impact on the field too.
