Penn State Opens as Heavy Betting Favorite Against Illinois This Week

While No. 7 Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford’s status for Saturday’s conference clash against Illinois is undetermined, the Nittany Lions open as heavy favorites against the Fighting Illini.

When the Lions host Illinois, likely with redshirt freshman Ta’Quan Roberson under center, they’ll be a 17-point favorite. The over/under is set at 49.5 points. The Lions, perhaps without Clifford under center, will look to get back on track before a key matchup against No. 5 Ohio State in two weeks.

DraftKings Sportsbook favors the Lions by almost four touchdowns, setting the spread at -23.5 for PSU. A bet against the spread either way holds -110 odds while a bet over or under the total points spread (46 points) holds -110 odds. A moneyline bet for the Lions holds -2200 odds while the same bet for Illinois holds +1100 odds.

FanDuel Sportsbook also favors the Lions with a -23.5 spread. The over/under is set at 46.5 points, and all bets for or against the spread and over and under the total points spread hold -110 odds. A moneyline bet for PSU holds -3500 odds while the same bet for Illinois holds +1200 odds.

The Lions are 4-2 against the spread while the Illini are 3-3 this season. Penn State last met Illinois last December, winning a 56-21 game to make it three in a row against the Illini. The Lions are 20-5 all-time against the Illini.
