Tragic news today involving a former Penn State great.
Police in McKeesport have announced that a woman shot and killed on Monday is the daughter of former Penn State linebacker Brandon Short.
26-year old Karli Short’s body was found Monday morning at the 300 block of 25th street in McKeesport with a gunshot wound to her head. She was announced dead at the scene. Short was reportedly pregnant with her first child at the time of the shooting.
The Allegheny County police Homicide Unit is investigating the killing of short and is asking anyone with information to call 1-833-255-8477.
Short released this public statement on Facebook: “My heart is broken. I’ve lost the light of my life, my oldest daughter Karli passed away this morning in a senseless act of gun violence. The love she had was so pure and true. The world lost a beautiful soul.”
Penn State head coach James Franklin opened his press conference today saying, “I would like to just send a message out to Brandon Short and his family, and pass along our love and support, and thoughts and prayers, for him and his family.”
Short was an All-American linebacker at Penn State before being drafted in the 4th round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the NY Giants.
