Short released this public statement on Facebook: “My heart is broken. I’ve lost the light of my life, my oldest daughter Karli passed away this morning in a senseless act of gun violence. The love she had was so pure and true. The world lost a beautiful soul.”

Penn State head coach James Franklin opened his press conference today saying, “I would like to just send a message out to Brandon Short and his family, and pass along our love and support, and thoughts and prayers, for him and his family.”

Short was an All-American linebacker at Penn State before being drafted in the 4th round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the NY Giants.
