PSU in the polls: Lions move up one spot in both polls

This week's coaches poll.

Penn State rose one spot in this week’s coaches poll, from No. 8 to No. 7.

The Nittany Lions also moved up one spot in the AP poll, from No. 9 to No. 8.

North Carolina had been No. 5/6 in the polls but lost to Florida State and dropped to 13/14.

Georgia had been No. 3 in both polls and dropped only one spot to No. 4 after a loss at Alabama.

So, Penn State only jumped one team — UNC — in moving up to No. 7 and No. 8 in the polls.

Ohio State stayed even at No. 5 in both polls. Wisconsin is No. 14 in both polls. Michigan is No. 17 in the coaches poll and 18 in the AP poll. Minnesota is No. 21 in both polls.

Penn State opens its season Saturday at Indiana.
