I got off to a good start last week, winning with Syracuse +21.5 at Pitt. The Orange hung tough and easily covered in a 21-10 loss.
I’m gonna come back to Pitt this week, only as the favorite.
The Panthers are -3 at home against Louisville in what should be an exciting game. No. 21 Pitt is 2-0 and playing with a lot of confidence, while No. 24 Louisville is 1-1 and coming off a 47-34 home loss to Miami.
The Cardinals’ offense will provide a good challenge for the Pitt defense, unlike Syracuse last week. The Panthers will have to be strong against the pass and run.
I don’t have much faith in Louisville’s defense, which is why I’m taking Pitt to cover this small number at home. The Cardinals allowed 47 to the Hurricanes and 21 against Western Kentucky, and I think Pitt can get to 30.
The pick: Pitt -3
Prediction: Pitt 30, Louisville 24
Season record ATS: 1-0
There was also this gem of a quote from Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi this week. He’s always good for some interesting comments.
Pat Narduzzi when asked about Louisville's team speed:
"They're really fast…Somehow, maybe we'll have a chance to be in the game at some point. But we'll take our no-named guys with no speed into the game and find out what we've got. It's why we play the games."
