UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For those thinking things might get better for Penn State, they would be saddened to find out, it in fact has not gotten better early on for Penn State.
After a blocked punt setting up the offense with a drive that started at the Northwestern 31-yard line, the Nittany Lions were able to ride Kaytron Allen inside the redzone as he had 15 yards on five carries.
From there, Drew Allar severely under threw his intended target and instead found the hands of a Wildcats defender in Ore Ideyi.

Why they decided to throw to Liam Clifford in that moment will certainly be a hot topic, but for a drive that was thriving on the ground, it was ill-advised to even put the ball in the air in that moment.
Northwestern marched the ball down the field for an eventual 27-yard field goal to take the lead with 2:51 left in the first quarter.
