Oregon Staying in Altoona Ahead of Penn State Game

Somehow, Oregon has a claim to a national title.
Dan Lanning leads Oregon to the Big Ten title in their first year in the conference.

The lodging situation in State College ahead of Penn State-Oregon next weekend is tricky for just about anybody, and that includes Oregon.

Not that there’s anything wrong with Altoona, PA, to be clear.

But considering it’s more than a half hour from Beaver Stadium, transportation might be a bit of a challenge.

The Altoona Mirror reported that No. 6 Oregon will be staying at the Blair County Convention Center for its Sept. 27 clash with No. 2 Penn State in Happy Valley.

“It’s a bite at the apple for us,” convention center Executive Director Tom Schilling said via the Mirror.

“The nation’s spotlight will be on State College that night,” authority Chairman Matt Stuckey said.

The Mirror also reported that Oregon decided to stay at the convention center “several months ago, with housing provided at adjacent County Inn and Suites by Radisson.”

This will be one of the biggest games of the college football season.

After all, these are the same two teams that played for the Big Ten Championship last December, and although Oregon has lost key players such as Dillon Gabriel and Tez Johnson, the Ducks are still loaded enough to be near the top five.

Penn State returns most of its key players from last year’s team, which ended up coming within a drive of playing for the national championship game.

So, yeah, this is a big one.

As of now, PSU is a slight favorite, with Circa Sports having the spread at Penn State -3.

Penn State-Oregon: What’s The Spread?

It’s worth noting that Penn State is 34-0 as a favorite in regular season games since the start of the 2022 season.

PSU-Oregon is scheduled to begin at 7:30 on NBC.
