Kyle Snyder, who didn’t compete for Penn State but is part of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, took care of business in his first 2024 Olympic match.
The Ohio State great came back from 4-0 down to win 9-5 over Chins Hablia Awusayiman.
Snyder got off to a tough start, trailing 4-0 at the break. Initially, it had been ruled that he picked up a four-point takedown, but after a challenge, the points were given the other way.
Within 30 seconds after the break, Snyder got a takedown to make it 4-2, then soon after got a push out to make it 4-3.
Seconds after that, he got a takedown to make it 5-4.
It was all him from there. Snyder scored four of the next five points to win, 9-5. He’ll now wrestle for a spot in the semifinals later this morning.
