We are less than 24 hours away from the much-anticipated commitment of Texas 2024 4-star wide receiver Taz Williams, Jr.
Most times, when a high-level recruit is this close to announcing a decision, there’s a national consensus on where that player will end up choosing.
However, that’s not the case with Williams, as he’s kept things very quiet, which is very unusual in this day and age.
Williams will be announcing his decision tomorrow afternoon at 4 PM and plans on selecting one of the following programs: Penn State, Texas A&M, Michigan and SMU.
Penn State lost out this week on Pennsylvania 2025 4-star wide receiver Lex Cyrus, who surprised a lot of people by selecting South Carolina over Penn State.
It goes without saying that the loss of Cyrus would be softened and pretty much forgotten if Williams were to select the Nittany Lions.
What are the chances that happens?
At the beginning of June and prior to official visits, Williams seemed to be a lock to stay in-state and commit to Texas A&M. However, that opinion has changed over the past few weeks.
In an interview with Nittany Sports Now following his Penn State official visit, Williams said that Penn State had pretty much pulled into a dead-heat with the Aggies.
However, that was before he made a visit to Ann Arbour and visited the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines.
Following that trip, it seemed as though this became a 3-team race with the winner changing defending on who you talk to or interview.
As we’re on the eve of decision day, here’s where the experts from the three national recruiting outlets are forecasting Williams to commit to.
Rivals.com: Penn State (67%)
247 Sports.com: Penn State (6 recruiting experts made this pick)
On3 Sports: Michigan (44.4%), Penn State (38.3%), SMU (3.6%), Texas A&M (2.2%)
These predictions are as of 5:25 PM on Friday, we’ll see if anything changes over the coming hours.
