Penn State’s Class of 2025 has an opportunity to get a lot better if things fall their way with elite Texas wide receiver Taz Williams.
It’s no secret that Penn State’s offense is in need of a couple elite, playmaking wide receivers and Williams certainly would fit that description.
Monday night, the 4-star wide out confirmed that he will announce his college decision this Saturday at 4 PM in the Red Oak High School Gym.
Williams made official visits to SMU, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Penn State but although he hasn’t said this, it appears as though his decision will come down to Texas A&M, Michigan and Penn State.
For the longest time, Texas A&M was thought to be the clear favorite, with Williams even saying so. However, things changed a bit when he had the opportunity to take official visits and that’s where Penn State and Michigan gave themselves a chance. In fact, a source tells NSN that Penn State is very much in the running for Williams.

Upon his arrival at Penn State, Williams told NSN that he had some questions for the Penn State staff that he hoped to get answered such as 1) opportunity as a freshman 2) specific usage in the offense 3) Penn State’s new pass offense.
After his official visit, Williams had this to say to NSN about his time spent in State College.
“It was a dope experience, better than I expected,” said Williams. “They really showed me the love and treated me like a top priority and paid attention to all the details. For me, the highlight was the offensive staff breaking down film with me and showing me how they plan on using and developing me. Also, bonding with the other commits from Pittsburgh and chilling with some of the players on the team outside of the coaches and the staff. Yes, they answered all the questions and checked all of the boxes.”
Keep in mind that although he currently lives in Texas, Williams was born in Pittsburgh before moving to Texas later in his childhood. Credit Penn State assistant Terry Smith for being the lead recruiter on Williams.
Williams is rated as a 5.9 recruit by Rivals and holds 50+ offers, so it goes without saying that his possible addition would be a grand slam for Penn State’s Class of 2025.
It could be a huge week for Penn State recruiting as 4-star wide out Lex Cyrus will be announcing his decision on Thursday. NSN is forecasting that Cyrus selects Penn State.
