James Franklin is looking to add a talented linebacker that’s currently in the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Penn State has extended an offer to former UNLV linebacker Jacoby Windmon, who’s ranked by 247Sports as one of the Top 15 players in the transfer portal. This past season, Windmon collected a career-high 118 total tackles, 72 solo tackles, which was sixth most in the country. He also registered 6.5 sacks.
Since announcing his decision to leave UNLV, Windmon has also received offers from Michigan State, Texas, Houston, TCU, Louisville, Missouri, Maryland, Iowa State, San Diego State and Kansas, so he’s a player clearly in demand.

Penn State would be losing redshirt senior linebacker Ellis Brooks should he decide not to use his extra year of eligibility. Jesse Luketa, who plays defensive end but can also play linebacker, has the option to come back but also accepted his Reese’s Senior Bowl invitation. There’s also a chance junior Brandon Smith could declare for the NFL Draft, as he appeared on Todd McShay’s Top 32 prospects list earlier this season.
