Tangelo played most of his college football career at Duke, where he started 27 games between 2017 and 2020. He transferred to Penn State for the 2021 season, where he became a regular starter at defensive tackle.
Without Ebiketie and now Tangelo, Penn State will be missing two of its four regular defensive linemen against Arkansas (not including tackle PJ Mustipher, who has been out since early October).
His his statement, Tangelo thanked God, his family, the Duke football program, Penn State coaches and teammates and, lastly, Nittany Nation.
“To the best fans in college football,” Tangelo wrote. “Thank you for cheering and supporting me in every game. It was an electric environment every time in Beaver Stadium with the 107K bringing the energy play in and play out. You guys will always be with me and I’ll always appreciate you.”
