Book it: This week’s free college football pick (Alabama at Ole Miss)

I will not pick against Alabama.

I will not pick against Alabama.

I will not pick against Alabama.

Yep, I made the mistake last week of taking Texas A&M +17.5 at Alabama, and got hammered as the Tide rolled, 52-24. When you pick against Bama, you roll the dice because you know those guys are capable of destroying anybody.

Alright, alright. I learned my lesson.

Or did I?

This week, Ole Miss is +23.5 at home against Alabama. That is a ton of points for a home dog, and it’s sort of tempting.

There’s so much going on around this game, as Ole Miss is coached by Lane Kiffin, former offensive coordinator at Alabama. Does Kiffin know some secrets against Nick Saban? Will Saban run up the score to try and embarrass his brazen former assistant? Or, could it be the opposite, and Saban takes it easy on Kiffin (yeah right!)?

No, I’m not going to take Ole Miss +23.5

I’m taking the over in this game, which is 69.5 points.

Alabama can light up the scoreboard, and Ole Miss’ defense is terrible, giving up 51 points to Florida (51-35 loss) and 41 at Kentucky (42-41 win).

But, the Rebels can score, as you can see, with 76 points in two games. And Kiffin is a good offensive coach.

In the last three meetings, Alabama has scored 59, 62 and 66 points. Last year it was 59-31 in Tuscaloosa. As long as Ole Miss can score occassionaly, this goes over.

Did you know I like offense? We’ll see a lot of it here.

Pick: Over 69.5

Prediction: Alabama 56, Ole Miss 20

Season record: 1-1-1
