Penn State just picked up a talented player from the WPIAL.
This morning, North Allegheny cornerback Joey Porter Jr. gave a verbal commitment to James Franklin and Penn State.

Over the weekend, Franklin and assistant coach Terry Smith attended Porter’s games and now he wants to join them.
Rivals rates Porter as a 3-star recruit while 247 Sports has him as a 4-star player.
Although Porter was down to a Final 5 that included Pitt, this decision comes as no surprise. The Panthers were never really considered a contender for him despite being listed as a finalist.
Porter is a tall (6-foot-3) lanky athlete and although he plays cornerback in high school, he might outgrow that position and could project as a future linebacker.
