In the wonderful lands of odds, early betting lines are out for Penn State football’s two biggest games of the season.

For the team’s Sept. 27 White Out clash with Oregon at Beaver Stadium, DraftKings has Penn State as a 5.5-point favorite.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Although Oregon won the Big Ten last season— beating Penn State in the conference championship game— and figures to be in the preseason top 10, Penn State simply returns more than Oregon does.

Oregon is losing the lethal QB-WR tandem of Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel and Tez Johnson. Penn State returns, well, just about everybody and will be playing Oregon at home under White Out conditions.

The spread for Penn State’s other monster is 2025 matchup also shouldn’t be surprising.

DraftKings has Penn State as a four-point underdog at Ohio State.

Although one certainly could argue that Penn State has a better roster than Ohio State— which lost key players such as Will Howard and Jack Sawyer to the NFL— it’s hard to say Ohio State shouldn’t be favored.

For one, Ohio State will still be loaded, returning  receiver Jeremiah Smith, who may well be the best player in the country. Ohio State will also be playing at home, and, perhaps most importantly, is 10-1 against Penn State in the James Franklin era.

That one win also did not take place in Ohio Stadium, where Franklin is 0-5.

Frankly, many won’t believe that Penn State can beat Ohio State until they see it, and apparently that includes DraftKings.

Penn State-Oregon is scheduled for 7:30 on NBC. Penn State-Ohio State’s kickoff time and TV station are unknown. But odds are, Penn State-Ohio State will be at noon on FOX.
