Penn State football’s 2025 recruiting class has not one, but two five-star prospects.

One day after 247Sports named 6-foot-6, 310-pound offensive tackle Malachi Goodman as a five-star recruit, On3 rewarded another offensive threat.

Tight end Andrew Olesh became a five-star prospect in On3’s Class of 2025 final rankings  Thursday, slotting as the No. 29 player in the country.

On3 ranks Olesh as the No. 1 prospect in Pennsylvania and the No. 1 tight end in the nation, earning a 98 rating out of Southern Leigh High School. After learning the news of his high ranking, Olesh posted his reaction on social media, further pushing James Franklin’s thoughts that “the best in PA stay in PA.”

The Center Valley, PA, native flipped his commitment from Michigan to Penn State Dec. 6 and would have been Michigan’s third-highest recruit but preferred Happy Valley after being recruited by tight ends coach Ty Howle.

A 6-foot-5, 215-pounder, Olesh committed to Penn State two weeks after star Tyler Warren became a finalist for the Mackey Award, bestowed upon the nation’s top tight end. Warren won the award Dec. 12 and caught 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ran for 218 yards and a score, threw three passes including a touchdown, and finished 7th place in 2024 Heisman voting.

Olesh chose PSU over Michigan, Oregon, Indiana, Michigan State, Rutgers, Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Miami, Pitt, West Virginia, Notre Dame and others.

Penn State enters 2025 with redshirt senior Kahlil Dinkins, sophomore Luke Reynolds, redshirt sophomore Andrew Rappleyea and Olesh leading one of the best tight-end rooms in the country. Penn State closed the 2024 season 13-3, won a first-round College Football Playoff game, won the Fiesta Bowl and reached the Orange Bowl in one of the most successful seasons in program history, a major reason why key senior leaders will return next year to State College.

Penn State finished the 2025 recruiting class (including transfers) with the 15th-best ranking by 247Sports with 27 incoming players, led by Goodman and 12 four-star recruits.
