Penn State: New Concession Stands Coming to Beaver Stadium

Penn State will take on Minnesota Nov. 22 at 3:30 on CBS.
Beaver Stadium -- David Hague

There are plenty Penn State fans who want a lot to be changed about Beaver Stadium, and a lack of concession stand options has been high on some people’s list.

Well, the stadium is getting some new ones.

Penn State announced Thursday that the stadium is adding nine concession stands across 13 locations.

Caliente Pizza (east and northwest concourse), Wing Kitchen (west and northeast), Chickie and Pete’s (west and northeast) and the We Are In (south and northwest) will all have two locations in the stadium. Beaver Stadium will also have a Doan’s Bones in the southeast concourse, and Adam and Nancy’s Paninis in the northeast concourse, a Scott’s Roasting in the North and a Philly Pretzel and Gluten Free Stand each in the southwest.

It’s not clear if or how and of these stands will affect Beaver Stadium’s relatively new beer sales.

Penn State began selling beer in Beaver Stadium at the Northwestern game last Oct. 1. Ahead of this year’s Big Ten Media Days last month in Indianapolis, Athletic Director Pat Kraft talked about how the beginning of beer at Beaver went.

Kraft feels it went well overall, but there were some problems.

“We had to shut it down at times because the concourses just didn’t play the way they needed to,” he said.

“You would have beer lines, and then they would interfere with the bathrooms, and then they would interfere with the food, so there were moments in the first quarter where (we had to) shut it down. So we were not focused on the revenue as much as we were, like, ok, how do we fix this experience and make sure it’s good at all levels?” Kraft said.

Kraft feels Penn State has that now, and the stadium plans to continue to sell beer in 2023.

“We had consultants come in and help us figure that out. We’re going to continue to learn,” he said.

Some other changes coming to Beaver Staidum in 2023 include:

  • Kids Zone and Happy Valley Alley at Gate D entrence
  • Storage options for fan belongings provided by the Mobile Locker Company
  • Legacy Plaza on the stadium’s south side
