Key Penn State ‘24 Target Sets Commitment Date, Time

A key Penn State Class of 2024 target has announced the date and time that he’ll commit.

T.A. Cunningham, a four-star defensive lineman from Miami Central High School, is making the big announcement Saturday, July 22 at 1:30.

Penn State is in Cunningham’s top five along with Oklahoma, Michigan, Miami and Texas A&M.

Saturday could be a good day for Penn State fans because the school appears to be the frontrunner for Cunningham. Both of 247Sports’ 247Sports’ Crystal Ball projections— placed by Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and Penn State insider Tyler Calvaruso— have him picking Penn State.

Nittany Sports Now communicated with Cunningham last month via Twitter direct message, and he said PSU was “definitely a front runner for me right now.”

Weeks later, nothing has changed.

Cubningham went on his PSU official visit the weekend of June 16, and loved it.

“My visit went great,” Cunningham told NSN. “I had a lot of fun in Happy Valley.”

John Scott Jr. was Penn State’s defensive line coach when Cunningham was offered in Aug. 2021. Now, Scott’s gone, having taken a job with the Detroit Lions in late February.

But a big reason PSU is still very much in play for Cunningham is the relationship he’s built with the school’s new DL coach, Deion Barnes.

“Ever since Coach Scott left for the NFL, I’ve been forming a relationship with Coach Barnes,” he said. “After visiting twice and getting to spend time with him, we’re definitely closer than ever.”

PSU had one interior defensive lineman commented to its ‘24 Class. That’s DeAndre Cook, a three-star from Washington D.C.
