A Penn State Class of 2024 target has de-committed from Oregon.

A Penn State Class of 2024 target has de-committed from Oregon.

Tyseer Denmark, a four-star, in-state WR from Philadelphia’s Roman Catholic high school, is no longer in Oregon’s 2024 Class, his head coach, Rick Prete, told Rivals.com.

This is a good sign for Penn State and its fans because this announcement came on the same day that Denmark wrapped up his official visit to Penn State.

Denmark announced his commitment to Oregon on Thanksgiving Day. Prior to that, Penn State was in his top three, along with Ohio State and temporary winner Oregon. Now, there’s no official word yet that Denmark is committing to Penn State, but it appears as if they would be the betting favorite based on the information that’s known.

He spoke with NSN in April 2022, long before announcing his commitment to Oregon, and said Penn State, then in his top five, “just did a great job recruiting me.”

“I know where I stand with them as far as being a top priority,” he said. “The thought of playing at home interests me. I think it was a no-brainer for them to be in my top five based off the relationship that we have established. From a football standpoint, they have everything that I’m looking for. They have a great following, great coaching staff.”

Denmark racked up a team-leading 35 receptions for 665 yards (19 yards per reception) and seven touchdowns in just six recorded games for Roman Catholic as a junior last season.

PSU doesn’t yet have a receiver committed to its 2024 Class. Five of its 17 commits are from Pennsylvania, including the two highest-rated: four-star ATH Quinton Martin (Belle Vernon High School) and four-star OL Cooper Cousins (McDowell High School).
