Former Penn State and Old Dominion tight end Zach Kuntz has been selected in the 7th round, No. 220 overall, by the New York Jets.
Kuntz played at Penn State from 2018-20, recording three passes for 26 yards in his three years at Penn State. After his redshirt sophomore season, he transferred to Old Dominion in 2021 following former offensive coordinator in head coach Ricky Rahne.
In his first year at Old Dominion, Kuntz recorded 73 receptions for 692 yards and five touchdowns, earning First-team Conference USA honors.
Last season, he was limited to five games and recorded 12 catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns before suffering a season-ending injury.
Kuntz’s size (6-foot-8, 251 pounds), route-running ability, and skills as a blocker make the Camp Hill, Pennsylvania native a sleeper prospect in the draft.
New York currently has Tyler Conklin, C.J. Uzomah, Kenny Yeboah, Jeremy Ruckert, and now Kuntz in its tight end room currently. A strong offseason and training camp showing could get him the number three tight end role for the Jets.
