Maleek McNeil is no longer with Penn State’s football program.
McNeil, a three-star Class of 2022 signee from the Bronx section of New York, was one of four offensive lineman from James Franklin’s freshman class.
As of Monday morning, McNeil’s page was no longer on Penn State’s roster, and a university source confirmed to Blue White Illustrated that McNeil is no longer on the team.
A New York, New York, native, McNeil came to Penn State as a three-star recruit from Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt Manor.
At Walter Panas, McNeil played on both lines and, believe it or not, punted. He made Lower Hudson’s Super 11 team. He committed to Penn State in May of 2021, choosing the school over Auburn, among others.
“Big,” was the first word offensive line coach Phil Trautwein used to describe McNeil at Penn State’s media day in August. “Monster. Just learning how to work. But is growing and has a smile on his face.”
Without McNeil, Penn State is down to three offensive linemen from their Class of 2022: Drew Shelton (4-star), JB Nelson (four-star junior college transfer) and Vega Ioane (three-star).
NSN has reached out to McNeil for comment.
