2023 3-Star S TJ Metcalf Will Commit Friday; Penn State in top 4

Penn State Football

First, Penn State got a commitment from TJ Parker, then DaKaari Nelson.

Now, coach James Franklin and company are trying to grab another recruit out of the Yellowhammer State.

TJ Metcalf, a Class of 2023 three-star safety out of Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Alabama, is set to announce his commitment Friday, and Penn State is in his final four.

Penn State is in the running with Arkansas, Jackson State and Ole Miss for Metcalf, who is the cousin of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound TJ Metcalf is the No. 22 prospect in Alabama and the 44th-ranked safety in the 2023 class.

Metcalf took an official visit to Penn State this past weekend and it impressed him enough for the school to be in the final four. Metcalf has family ties to Ole Miss and is also being recruited by Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, who is now Jackson State’s head coach.

If Metcalf commits, he’d join Nelson, Lamont Payne and Conrad Hussey as defensive backs that have committed to Penn State in the 2023 recruiting cycle.
