Jameial Lyons (2023) a defensive end from Roman Catholic High School who is a four-star according to 247Sports’ site rankings, will be announcing his commitment Friday as opposed to Aug. 4, which is a date he originally set.

Penn State is in Lyons’ top five, along with Cincinnati, Illinois, Pitt and West Virginia. Both of 247Sports’ “Crystal Ball” projections have him picking Penn State, and the fact that he’s moved up his commitment months in advance might be a good sign for Penn State fans, as it could mean that he’s made up his mind.
Lyons would be the second defensive player to commit to Penn State’s 2023 class, with Chartiers Valley cornerback Lamont Payne being the only other. A commitment from Lyons would take a way a lot of the sting caused by Penn State losing Neeo Avery, a four-star who de-committed March 27.
