Penn State Makes the Cut for 2023 Four-Star OL Luke Montgomery

Penn State Football at Home

Penn State already has top-ranked interior offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier committed to its 2023 class, and if its relationship with 2023 four-star offensive lineman Luke Montgomery continues to progress, the Nittany Lions could eventually boast two of the top six linemen in the class.

According to On3 Recruits’ Hayes Fawcett, Montgomery has narrowed down an extensive list of offers to a Top 6 of Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Penn State.

Montgomery (6-foot-5, 260 pounds) has picked up offers from nearly every Power Five school across the country, boasting 33 offers. As a junior at Findlay High School in Findlay, Ohio, he helped lead the Trojans to a 9-4 season.

According to 247Sports, he’s the 59th-ranked recruit in the class (sixth-ranked offensive tackle and third-ranked recruit from Ohio). Rivals rates him as the 82nd-ranked recruit in the class (seventh-ranked offensive tackle and third-ranked recruit from Ohio).

With visits to every school in his Top 6, along with others, Montgomery has been busy on the recruiting trail this year. He made a couple of visits to State College, including visits in July and November. He told Fawcett about his enjoyment in visiting Happy Valley.

“Happy Valley is an awesome place and one of my favorite campuses,” Montgomery told Fawcett for an On3 Recruits article. “They were the first Power 5 school to offer me, and ever since they have been recruiting me hard.”

However, according to both 247Sports and Rivals, it appears Ohio State has the inside edge. Both sites currently project Montgomery to land with the Buckeyes.
