Offer central: Catch up on recent HS prospects offered by Penn State

Today is national signing day, and Penn State did sign one more player, 4-star DE Davon Townsley, to go along with 15 prospects who signed in December. But the PSU coaching staff also has been busy lately offering players for future recruiting classes.

Here’s a rundown of the recent offers, starting with a highly rated QB from Texas.

**QB Cade Klubnik: 4-star pro-style QB from Austin, Texas for class of 2022. He has a slew of offers from top programs, including his hometown Longhorns, as well as in-state Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU and SMU. But if he wants to go out of state, the fact that Penn State now has Mike Yurcich as offensive coordinator could be very appealing to him.

Klubnik (6-2, 178) led his Westlake High School team to the state title this past season. Here is a good Q&A with Klubnik, and following are some of his responses:

What was the highlight of your 2020 Season?

“Without a doubt the highlight of the season was winning it all with my brothers. we had been through so much together and never once changed our minds and quit. We stayed focused on our goal and sacrificed so much.”

Why do you love football?

“I love the game because of the freedom it gets me when I step on the field holding a ball in my hand. no matter what has been given to me, i always feel like the underdog to go beat everyone else. i love the grind, i enjoy it more than anything. The feeling of standing out there for 5 hours creating greatness gets me going. Knowing that hard work always pays off, you can ever be satisfied. I love the game because when we go out there, not another thing in the world matters than me, the ball and my teammates. The true brotherly love you grow, itโ€™s unlike anything else.”

**ATH Drailun Anthony: Penn State is the first to offer the 6-foot, 190-pounder from Lafayette, La., for the 2022 class. He doesn’t have any stars yet from 247Sports.

**OG Chester Watley: The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder from Minneapolis for the 2022 class has only one offer so far, and it just came from Penn State last week. He doesn’t have any stars yet.

**ATH JT Smith Jr.: A 6-foot, 190-pounder from Cornelius, N.C., in the 2023 class. He doesn’t have any stars yet, according to 247Sports, and Penn State got in early with him, as his only other offer so far is from Minnesota.
