The Penn State men’s basketball team added their first player through the transfer portal in Jay Rodgers.

Rodgers is a 6’-3” senior guard from Pickerington, Ohio who played for the Central Connecticut Blue Devils of the Northeastern Conference (NEC) the past four seasons (2022-26).

Before Central Connecticut, he played a year at Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona (2021-2022) and then for the New Orleans Privateers during his freshman season (2020-21).

The crafty, left-handed point guard was visiting State College just this weekend.

While at Central Connecticut, Rodgers finished his time there averaging 11.0 points, 6.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting 42.6% from the field.

Rodgers, who has one year of eligibility left, is a very much welcomed addition to the Nittany Lions who have seen seven of their players from last year’s roster test the market in this year’s transfer portal.
