Not many people are giving Penn State a chance against Indiana.
It’s crazy to say that about football, not basketball, but that’s the way this 2025 season has been.
Indiana is 9-0 and ranked No. 2.
Penn State was supposed to be at that level, but it hasn’t turned out that way. Instead, Penn State is 3-5 without a full-time head coach. Indiana is one of three Big Ten teams that has never won in Beaver Stadium, and today is its best chance to do it.
Will Penn State pull the upset? Here’s what our staff thinks.
Kyle Golik: A part of me wants to believe Penn State can pull the upset of No. 2 Indiana. The problem is most of me recognizes what Curt Cignetti has built in his short time in Bloomington: a team that doesn’t flinch in adversity that goes for absolute domination. I don’t expect anything different.
Indiana 52, PSU 7
Jarrod Prugar: This is by far the best team Indiana has brought to Penn State. This is also a PSU team that has been close in every game save for last week. Can they actually execute or will the Hoosiers run it up? I think it’s going to be in the middle.
Indiana 31, PSU 27
Austin Bechtold: Indiana is the No. 2 team in the country for a reason, but I think this game is gonna be a little closer than people think. The offense needs to rely on Kaytron Allen and get Ethan Grunkemeyer into a rhythm. Ideally that doesn’t include using two quarterbacks. If PSU is going to win this game, it needs to force multiple turnovers. I think Indiana is just way too much to handle.
Indiana 34, PSU 28
Joe Smeltzer: All common sense points to PSU losing this game by a lot. My gut tells me Penn State will give Indiana everything it can handle.
I have no real basis for this prediction other than a hunch, but sometimes, hunches are correct.
Indiana 24, PSU 20
