On July 7, the Penn State men’s basketball program received great news when the #3 ranked player out of Pennsylvania, Dionycius Bakare, committed to Penn State University. He was the first 2026 commit for the Nittany Lions. Since then according to Joe Moussa of North Pole Hoops, the Vancouver native has decommitted his loyalty to Penn State and has reopened his recruitment.
This makes 6′-7″ small forward, Jamison White, the lone commitment so far from the 2026 Class.
Per 247Sports, Dionycius Bakare was the #153 ranked player in the nation. The 6′-5″ small forward from The Phelps School in Malvern, Pa. has now received offers from USC, Illinois, and California and is reportedly close to making a decision.
Coach Rhoades and his staff have a young squad for this year’s team and the #26 recruiting class in the country, the highest ever in program history, but with today’s landscape across college sports with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), a program never knows when one of their players will decommit from their school and enter the transfer portal. PSU’s coaching staff will continue to recruit around the world and reload as much talent as possible to contend in the highly competitive, Big Ten Conference.
