Penn State has reached the final three for one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2027.
On Monday, four-star QB Keegan Croucher and Rivals revealed his top three schools at the start of the 2025 high school football season.
Penn State has made the cut. Croucher is down to Penn State, the Nittany Lions’ opponent in the 2024 Big Ten Championship Game (Oregon), and Ole Miss.
Regarded as the No. 9 quarterback in the class by Rivals and No. 10 by 247Sports, Croucher has 18 schools in pursuit of him during his recruitment process.
A 6-foot-4, 205-pound athlete from Cheshire, Connecticut, Croucher doesn’t have a Crystal Ball prediction attached to his name yet.
247Sports slots Croucher with a 90 overall grade. The recruiting site ranks him the No. 168 player and No. 12 QB in the nation, but No. 125 and No. 10 QB on the 247Sports Composite scale.
Penn State has struggled to land high-profile quarterback commits since landing Drew Allar as a five-star prospect in the class of 2022. After Allar, no quarterback on Penn State’s roster has started a game and Ethan Grunkemeyer has seen limited snaps since he stepped into the backup role when Beau Pribula entered the portal before the College Football Playoff.
Croucher is being recruited by quarterbacks coach Danny O’Brien, who helped land a commitment from 2026 four-star California quarterback Troy Huhn in June 2024.
Penn State begins the 2025 season hosting Nevada on Saturday while restoration efforts continue on West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium.
