In recruiting news, One of Pennsylvaniaโs top Class of 2026 players has Penn State amongst his finalists.
Hayes Fawcett of On3Sports reported Friday afternoon that Grayson McKeogh has Penn State in his top three along with Notre Dame and Texas.
Additionally, heโs locked in official visit dates for all three schools.
McKeogh plans to visit Penn State June 6-8, followed by Notre Dame June 13-15 and Texas June 20-22. Of the three schools, Penn State has been in on McKeogh the longest. PSU offered McKeogh this past November. Notre Dame offered him in March and Texas offered him May 19.
Other schools to offer McKeogh include Boston College, Duke, Indiana, Michigan State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
MCKEOGH ON PENN STATE
In an interview with Ryan Snyder of On3Sports,
McKeogh explained that he originally planned to take his Penn State official visit June 13-15.
He also explained why those plans changed.
โWhen I initially scheduled Penn Stateโs official visit, (Phil Trautwein) gave me a couple of dates that would work, and he emphasized that the better weekend was June 6, which was the weekend I didnโt choose,โ McKeogh said. โCoach Traut expressed that picking a week other than the one I had before would allow him to spend more time with me and my family.โ
McKeogh also explained that he had been scheduled to visit Duke June 6-8, which is now when heโll be visiting Penn State.
โThen, it was the same thing for Notre Dame,โ he said. โThey said that the weekend they thought was best was the weekend I had set for Penn State before. So, I figured if Iโm going to visit those two schools, itโs best to get the most out of both of them.โ
WHAT A COMMITMENT WOULD MEAN
So what would a commitment from McKeogh mean for Penn State? Well, for one, it would keep up the trend of PAโs top players staying close to home. Seven of Penn Stateโs 18 Class of 2026 commits are local.
One of the top ones, four-star Kevin Brown, is an OL from Harrisburg.
So, yeah, this would be big. Both literally and figuratively.
