Update: Leonard is back in the game.
Notre Dame football quarterback Riley Leonard exited the College Football Playoff semifinal against Penn State with an injury late in the first half.
Leonard was was slow to get up after taking a hit and upon leaving the game, the senior was placed in concussion protocol.
The injury occurred on a first-and-10 from the Notre Dame 40 as the Fighting Irish were looking to score their first points of the game. As Leonard climbed the pocket and released a pass, he was crunched by defensive tackle Dvon J-Thomas.

Before exiting the game, Leonard completed 6-of-11 passes for 63 yards, while tossing an interception. He also added seven yards rushing.
Junior quarterback Steve Angeli took over as the Notre Dame signal caller.
