A key Penn State defender has declared for the NFL Draft.

Early Sunday afternoon, a defensive back by the name of Jalen Kimber announced that he’s played his last college game.

Kimber only played one season at Penn State but played five in college football overall.

He started his career at the University of Georgia, where he played from 2020-21. He then transferred but stayed in the same conference, going to the University of Florida where he played the next two seasons. After last season, Kimber transferred to the University of Louisville but never ended up playing a game, switching his transfer to Penn State by the middle of January.

Here is Kimber’s full draft declaration statement.

“I want to start by thanking my family. You all have been an amazing support system and I love you all more than words can express. Playing football at the highest level is something I dreamed about when I was five years old. Being able to live that dream has been a blessing. To my coaches and friends at the University of Georgia and the University of Florida, I would like to take a moment to discuss my deepest gratitude to you all for your guidance, support, development and belief you had in me. Your impact has been invaluable through my journey and I appreciate everything you have done to help me grow as a player and person. Coach Corey Raymond, your impact has been invaluable throughout my journey and I appreciate everything you have done to help me grow as a player and person.

To Penn State University and Nittany Nation, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for welcoming me with open arms. This has been a one of a kind experience that I will forever cherish. To the recruiting staff, DJ (Bryant), AZ (Alan Zematis) and Kenny (Sanders), thank you for seeing something in me and believing I was the right addition to the family. Coach Terry Smith, man there’s not much I regret, but I will simply say that this was way too short and I appreciate you. Coach James Franklin, the culture you have created is one of one and the experience has been incredible. You are a transparent, true leader of men and it has been an honor playing under your leadership.

He ended his statement by, of course, officially announcing his draft declaration.
