Although he didnโt mention any names, it seems pretty clear that a former Penn State receiverโs post was a reaction to the teamโs Orange Bowl loss to Notre Dame.
Penn State Drops Orange Bowl to Notre Dame in Heartbreaking Fashion
โI need apologies,โ KeAndre Lambert-Smith posted to X (formerly Twitter) Friday morning, hours after Penn Stateโs season ended.

For many Penn State fans, losing Lambert-Smith to the transfer portal was addition by subtraction.
Itโs hard to say how Lambert-Smith would have done at Penn State as opposed to Auburnโ where he ended 2024 with almost 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns on 50 catches. But itโs hard to imagine things would be any worse.
ZERO CATCHES
Penn State didnโt get a single reception from its receiving corps Thursday. Not one. Each of QB Drew Allarโs 12 completions were to either a tight end or a running back. Considering that and considering what Lambert-Smith did at Auburn, itโs hard to say things would have been worse had Lambert-Smith stayed. Lambert-Smith was Penn Stateโs leading receiver in 2023, ending the year with 673 yards and four touchdowns on 53 receptions. PSUโs leading receiver this season, Lambert-Smithโs former teammate Harrison Wallace III, had 720 yards and four touchdowns on 46 receptions. The No. 1 receiver behind Wallace, Omari Evans, had 415 yards and five touchdowns on 21 receptions. So itโs hard to argue Lambert-Smith wouldnโt have been, at worst, Penn Stateโs No. 2 option.
DEJA VU
Last season, Penn State lost its last game of the year as well, albeit on a much smaller stage in the Peach Bowl. Penn Stateโs receivers didnโt have a reception in that game until the fourth quarter and Lambert-Smith didnโt have any catches all day. Hours after the loss, he took to social media to respond to critics.
Man let them folk talk, half them ainโt never played a down of football lol

Penn State has two receivers coming in from the transfer portal with Kyron Hudson (USC) and Devonte Ross (Troy). Weโll see if it adds more during the spring window.
