A Penn State football target who had been committed to an ACC school is committed no longer.
Josh Johnson, a three-star safety from Ohio’s Ironton High School, announced via X (formerly Twitter) late Wednesday morning that he has de-committed.
This comes days after he took a visit to Penn State football to watch its 27-11 win over UCLA.
“After a lot of reconsideration, praying and talking with my family and coaches,” he wrote, “I believe it would be in my best interest to decommit from the university of Louisville. Thank you coach (Jeff) Brohm and the whole Louisville coaching staff for believing in me…. please respect my decision.”

Johnson took an official visit to Penn State and June and talked with NSN’s after.

“Oh man, I’d give it a 100% or an A for sure”, said Johnson. “I loved and appreciated how they really took care of me and my family. Even when I wasn’t around, they were talking to my people. Like when I was hanging around other recruits and stuff, they were always talking to my people and letting them know how they were going to take care of me. The coaches let them now that they’d be looking out for me and that I would be in good hands.”
Johnson also liked that Penn State’s coaches kept their conversations light.
“I’d say that was like 50/50. The coaches allowed me to have a good time and made things chill. But at certain times they were still recruiting me,” said Johnson. “They tell me they like my length; how tall I am (6’3″), my weight, my speed and how I can close on a football.”
