Watch: James Franklin Stops by Penn State S Jaylen Reed’s Postgame Interview to Offer Praise

Penn State safety Jaylen Reed had his signature moment at Penn State Saturday night
Jaylen Reed looks on as Penn State gets set to take the field for their matchup at Maryland.

Morgantown, WV— Penn State S Jaylen Reed is one of the defense’s best players and he played like it Saturday afternoon.

The fourth-year player ended the game with nine tackles (three solo) and was all over the field, especially early in the game.

He recovered a fumble, forced an incompletion on the first play from scrimmage and all together flew around the field during the first quarter.

After the game, Reed was one of the players made available to media, and his postgame interview featured a special guest.

“You were flashing all over the field early in that game,” Coach James Franklin said. “I mean it was, it was… you looked like you were running  at a different speed than everybody else on the field at the beginning. It was impressive.”

Before that, Reed was talking about how he holds himself to a lofty standard.

“I’m hard on myself,” he said. “I have a real big standard for myself.”

Whether overhearing this lead Franklin to approach Reed is unknown, but in any case, it was a heartwarming moment that was part of a great day for Penn State fans.
