Update: Harutyunyan lost in the quarterfinals, thus eliminating RBY.
Penn State wrestling great Roman Bravo-Youngโs Olympic debut didnโt go the way he hoped for.
Armeniaโs Arsen Harutyunyan beat RBY 13-3, staring the bout with seven unanswered points.
RBY fell behind 4-0 within the first three minutes and never recovered. Armenia added two more on a takedown to go ahead 6-0. Bravo-Young did get a takedown with under two minutes left to make it 7-2.
For Bravo-Youngโ who won two national titles, was a three-time national finalist and a five-time All-Americanโ to medal at the Olympics, heโll need Harutyunyan to advance to the finals at 57 KG. Team USAโs Spencer Leeโ who Penn State fans remember well from his career at Franklin Regional High School in the Pittsburgh area and his college career at Iowaโ is the favorite at that weight class. He started his Olympics with a 3-2 win over Chinaโs Wanaho Zou.
