Not many people go from playing quarterback to playing offensive line but Penn State true freshman OL Garrett Sexton is one of them.
Sexton was once a quarterback but turned into an offensive tackle.
His play on the line earned the attention of many top programs, with Penn State being one of them.
Penn State’s the one he picked, and now, Sexton is the latest subject in All 105, a Nittany Sports Now series profiling each Penn State player.
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 260 pounds
Hometown: Hartland, Wisconsin
Before Penn State: Sexton came to Penn State after a successful career at Arrowhead High School, where he was a first-team all-state performer as a senior. A four-star recruit, Sexton committed to Penn State in April 2023.
Where he stands: As a true freshman in a deep OL room, Sexton isn’t likely to get a lot of playing time and will probably end up redshirting his first season. But if a guy as athletic as Sexton can add to his 260-pound frame, he could be a force for Penn State in the years to come.
A quote by Sexton: “If I put my mind to something, I can accomplish a lot of things. If I’m determined, I’m gonna get to where I wanna be in life.” — Sexton last August via Zac Bellman of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
A quote about Sexton: “Garrett is an athletic unicorn. He combines his incredible length and size with great athleticism. Garrett has a Division I work ethic! Penn State has a diamond being polished and in a few years he will be blinging.” — Sexton’s high school coach, Matt Harris, via Penn State’s athletic website.
