Henderson, a 5-foot-9, 200-pounder, has Penn State in his top four along with Auburn, Miami and Florida State.
He’s projected to announce his commitment Thursday, April 11. Henderson is a star from Alabama’s Elba High School. Penn State’s improved in recruiting Alabama’s high school talent in recent years, with current player’s Harrison “Trey” Wallace III (Pike Road) and DaKaari Nelson (Selma) being from the state.
247’s composite rankings have Henderson as the No. 8 RB in the country from his class, as well as the No. 10 overall player in Alabama and No. 94 overall player in America.
Interestingly, three of 247’s four “Crystal Ball” projections have Henderson staying in Alabama and picking Auburn, which is roughly two and a half hours away from Elba.
But Loy has Henderson picking Penn State largely due to the bonds he’s built with head coach James Franklin and RB coach Ja’Juan Seider.
“I believe relationships and development is what is separating the school from the other finalists,” Loy wrote. “I don’t believe there is a coach he’s closer with or respects more than Penn State running backs coach Ja’Jaun Seider. In addition, I’m not sure there is a head coach he enjoys being around more than Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin.
Penn State offered Henderson in November 2021, so he’s been on the radar for a while. Along with his four finalist, he has offers from schools such as Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Memphis, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and South Florida.
