The number one goal for Penn State wrestling in its regular-season finale against Edinboro at Rec Hall was for nobody to get hurt.
Everybody knew Penn State was going to destroy Edinboro, and it did.
But the dominant thing that will be on the minds of Penn State and its fans will be the health of perhaps the team’s best wrestler.
Three-time national champion Carter Starocci wrestled Joseph Arnold, and as expected, dominated to the tune of a tech fall. But as he was completing the tech fall, he appeared to twist his leg and ended up having to be helped off the mat. The Big Ten Championships start March 9 at the University of Maryland.
Starocci not being able to compete for his fourth straight national title isn’t an outcome anybody should want.
