Former Penn State QB Sean Clifford has appeared in an NFL playoff game.

Clifford, who is now Green Bay’s QB2 behind starter Jordan Love, got the call late in the fourth quarter of the team’s 48-32 domination of the Cowboys in Dallas, moving on to the divisional round.

This is Clifford’s third appearance of the season and second in the past three games.

The “Big Red Dog” also appeared in Green Bay’s win at Minnesota on New Year’s Eve and completed his first NFL pass. That capped off a wonderful 2023 for Clifford, a year which effectively started Jan. 2 when Clifford helped Penn State beat Utah in the Rose Bowl. 2024 has been pretty sweet for Clifford, too. On the first Saturday of January, Clifford announced that he had proposed to his fiancé, and she said yes. Now, Clifford and the Packers are two wins away from the Super

Clifford started at Penn State for four seasons. In that time, he broke numerous school records. Clifford is Penn State’s all-time leader in touchdown passes, passing yards and completions. Clifford passed his predecessor, Trace McSorley, in all three categories in 2022.

“He’s maximized that entire experience,” coach James Franklin said ahead of last year’s Rose Bowl. “He’s maximized it as a student, as a student-athlete. He’s going to go on and be a very, very successful businessman after his football career is done, and he’s done it the right way, and he’s done it with class.

”I’m happy for him. I’m proud of him. And I know he’s going to prepare like crazy to go out and play the best he possibly can against a really tough opponent.”
