UNIVERSITY PARK— Saturday was one heck of a day for Penn State QB Drew Allar, for good reasons at bad.
With a little more than five minutes left and Penn State leading 24-21 in Saturday’s game against Indiana, Allar threw his first college interception and set Indiana up near Penn State’s red zone.

After Penn State’s defense held Indiana to a game-tying field goal, Allar had a chance to redeem himself.
He cashed in, hitting KeAndre Lambert-Smith for a 57-yard score with 1:46 left. Penn State ended up winning, 33-24.

Allar ended the day 20-for-31 with 210 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
The people of Twitter had a lot of good and bad to say. Here are examples of each.
Right now, Indiana’s QB is a lot better than Drew Allar and their WRs are a lot better than the shit were trotting out.

Drew Allar is terrible.

Drew Allar is awesome. Heart of a champion.

Who’s the problem? Allar or the offensive system? Maybe a little of both? pic.twitter.com/VaFzldJjeU

Who the f*ck gave Drew Allar 5 star hype, and why were people still rating him as a Top 10 QB 2 weeks ago 😭
— College Football Report (@CFBRep) October 28, 2023
The narrative that the wide receivers aren't getting separation is a lazy and somewhat inaccurate narrative. In both replays last drive, Allar had guys open – KLS and Cephas – and didn't find them. Drew isn't seeing the field for whatever reason.

Our offense continues to look average.
On first and second I expect us to run up the middle and get a little less than 2 yards each run, then it’s Allar to throw a pass four yards down field and it’s either short or dropped.
This offense just has to get better. Not good.

At no point have I said "he isn't it."
I totally get that Allar is a work in progress. He could still be very, very good.
I don't think I'm alone in saying I expected him to be better than this.
One thing he's done great is protect ball.
But his accuracy & recognition are issues. https://t.co/FRNxFygMeH— Cory Giger (@CoryGiger) October 28, 2023

Heisman moment drive Drew Allar. Go win it.

Shut these motherfuckers up Drew Allar!

This was said last week but Drew Allar just needs to get this first interception over with.
He has the arm, he has the talent, let it rip and see if we can create some big plays with more risk involved.

Allar does things every once in a while that make you think he might be pretty good if people regularly got open and he could generate a bit more confidence.
— Ben Jones (@Ben_Jones88) October 28, 2023
If Drew Allar played like Josh Allen with no plan whatsoever, I think he would be pretty good. Just accept the turnovers but you're going to have a lot of big plays

Tired: this was an absolutely brutal decision

Biggest positive today is by far Drew Allar. Got punched in the mouth (kinda literally) and came back with a swing of his own and won the game. Huge learning experience for the young QB.

NEVER TAKE DREW PATRICK ALLAR’S NAME IN VAIN AGAIN

I’ll be showing this effortless 50 yard bomb to anyone who says “Drew Allar sucks” from now on. There are bigger problems at play here that are holding him back. He can be better, but he’s not the issue AT ALL

Safety KJ Winston on Allar:
“Seeing him every day, the plays he can make, the plays where it's tied in a competitive period, and he makes that big throw against us — we consider ourselves a great defensive. Great quarterback. Wouldn't want it any other way with a different QB.” pic.twitter.com/8eytpxEr5W

Theo Johnson’s word’s to Penn State QB Drew Allar after Allar threw his first college pick late in the fourth quarter: “You’re the best in the country, and don’t you forget that. (The pick) doesn’t define you.” pic.twitter.com/zV839qMBtp
