Following its 41-13 win at Northwestern Saturday, Penn State is ranked No. 6 in both the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, keeping its place in the former and rising in the latter.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Michigan’s ranked second in both polls and Ohio State is ranked third in the Coaches Poll and fourth in the AP Poll.
Georgia remains the top-ranked team in the nation after its 27-20 win over Auburn.Texas is ranked third in the Coaches Poll and fourth in the AP Poll, followed by Florida State at number five, Penn State sixth, Washington at seven, Oregon at eight, USC at nine, Oregon at nine and Notre Dame at 10.
No other Big Ten team finished in either poll this week.
While Penn State will have its bye week this weekend, Michigan will travel to Minnesota this weekend, while Ohio State will host Maryland next weekend.
Penn State plays at Ohio State Oct. 21 and hosts Michigan three weeks later. Before the Ohio State game, Penn State has a bye week before hosting UMass Oct. 14, which many will view as another bye week.
Ohio State and Michigan are the only two teams to have beat Penn State since the end of the 2021 season. Michigan dominated Penn State, 41-17, in Ann Arbor Oct. 15, 2022. Penn State was much more competitive against Ohio State at Beaver Stadium, but still lost, 44-31.
Ohio State had a bye week this week. Michigan pounded Nebraska, 45-7, to improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten. Michigan also took care of Rutgers in its Big Ten opener the week before, and both games were in the Big House. Michigan also has Jim Harbaugh back after Harbaugh served a self-imposed three-game suspension.
