PSU is in the top six along with five SEC schools: Alabama, Florida Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee.
Lewis is a standout at Salem High School in Virginia, a state where Penn State’s had recent success recruiting. Six of Penn State’s Class of 2023 signees are from Virginia, which is tied with Pennsylvania for the most of any state. Lewis rushed for 1,560 yards and 17 touchdowns this past season, being named first-team all-state as a running back and kick returner.
He was also named a second-team all-state punt-returner.
Nittany Sports Now talked with Lewis after he visited in late January. Lewis told NSN Penn State would be a “hard place to pass up.”
“Today means a lot to me,” said Lewis. “I know that the stars and beyond are the limit and I’m definitely reaching for it. I know that from here, it’s only going up with my recruitment and I’m excited for what my future holds.”
“After I took my football pictures, Coach Walker the assistant running backs coach and Coach Seider called me up to Coach Franklin’s office. I was in there with Coach Seider, Coach Walker, Coach Poindexter, Coach Franklin and my mom and my dad. Basically, he was making sure that if I had any questions not to hesitate to ask and wanted to make it crystal clear that he was offering me. I was pretty excited about that. Coach Franklin seemed really excited about me.”
Penn State currently has 13 committed in its 2024 class. Of those 13, four-stars Corey Smith and Quinton Martin are projected to play running back.
