Penn State has made the Top 5 of a talented junior from the West Coast.
2024 3-star athlete Dayton Aupiu from Pacifica High School in Oxnard, California announced Saturday afternoon that his final five schools were Penn State, California, Arizona, Utah and San Diego State. Other programs that offered Aupiu included Washington, UNLV, Purdue, Indiana, Colorado and Boston College.
Aupiu received his offer from Terry Smith and Penn State back on October 24, 2022.
Following his announcement, Nittany Sports Now caught up with Aupiu to ask him about Penn State and what’s impressed him about them.
“They are a great football program overall and have one of the best secondaries in the college football,” said Aupiu. “Since they offered me, I’ve spoken mostly with Coach Smith and also their head coach, Coach Franklin. They want me to be a safety and to be up top and control the defense.”
“I’ve never been to Penn State but how close I am to home won’t play a factor of where I decide, as long as I am comfortable there.”
Aupiu tells NSN that as of today, he doesn’t have any official visits set, but he does plan on making his commitment in July.
