Former Penn State, Kentucky QB Will Levis Selected by Tennessee Titans in 2nd Round of 2023 NFL Draft

Former Penn State quarterback Will Levis has been selected by the Tennessee Titans with the second pick of the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

As of Wednesday, the day before the draft, his odds to be the top overall pick were +550.

He ended up not going in the first round at all.

Levis, who played at Penn State from 2019-21 before transferring to Kentucky and starting there for two seasons, has long been projected as a high pick, and those projections didn’t come true.

According to ESPN Analytics, there was a 0.1 percent chance Levis would be around at pick No. 25.

In two seasons at Kentucky, Levis threw 43 touchdown passes, 23 interceptions and completed more than 65 percent of his passes.

Levis had a 17-7 record as Kentucky’s starter. Last season, the team went 10-3 and beat Iowa in the Citrus Bowl. This year, Kentucky finished the regular season 7-5 and awaits when, where and who it will play in its bowl game. Before Kentucky, Levis played at Penn State from 2018-20. He got  playing time in his last two seasons, even starting a game in each year, against Rutgers in 2019 and Iowa in ‘20, both at Beaver Stadium.

Although Sean Clifford was Penn State’s starter in 2020, Levis appeared in eight of Penn State’s nine games, being used often as a runner. From 2019-20, Levis rushed for a combined 473 yards, a number that wasn’t far behind his 644 passing yards.

Many Penn State fans still question James coach James Franklin’s decision to start Sean Clifford at QB during the 2020 season while Levis backed him up.

Whether or not Franklin made the right call is still up for debate, but what’s not up for debate is that Levis’s big fall surprised a lot of people

Penn State is still waiting on its draft picks. The most highly-regarded Penn State player on the draft boards is cornerback Joey Porter Jr., another projected first round pick who fell out of night one.
