Penn State is probably going dancing.
10th-seeded Penn State came into its first-round Big Ten Tournament matchup with Illinois needing a win to virtually lock up an NCAA Tournament appearance.
It got a win 79-76 and beat Illinois for the third time in three tries this season.
Penn State (20-12) still has at least one more game to play before Selection Sunday, taking on No. 2 Northwestern at 6:30 CT in the quarterfinals.
But it feels like Penn State is playing with house money.

Since 2018 Penn State is going to have won the NIT, been ranked in the Top 10, only miss the tournament because of COVID and then almost certainly make the tournament again this season. Pretty successful six year span.
