Penn State will be the number two seed in the Allentown region as it finished number eight in the PairWise rankings as it will be making its first tournament since 2018.
There was some doubt that Penn State would even make the tournament due to losing six of its last eight regular season games and losing a three-game quarterfinal series of the Big Ten Tournament to Ohio State.
The selection committee, however, saw its strong resume as the Nittany Lions held their own as it played in arguably the toughest conference in college hockey.
The most likely opponent for Penn State is Ohio State as they sit at ninth in the PairWise, and Minnesota is most likely be the top seed not only in the region but in the NCAA tournament as they are the top-ranked team in the PairWise rankings.
The NCAA Hockey Selection Show will take place on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
