LAS VEGAS – With an abundance of players from around the country out in Las Vegas at the Shrine Bowl, it can sometimes be tough to stand out and catch the eye of any of the NFL coaches and scouts. But Penn State product defensive tackle PJ Mustipher did just that, and caught the attention of the most prominent coach here.
Mustipher, who recorded 37 total tackles during the 2022 season, one that the Nittany Lions capped off by winning the Rose Bowl, became a favorite of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick during practice at day 2 on Sunday. The six-time Super Bowl winner as a head coach and a champion two other times as an assistant has been around tons of talent and for a very long time, making this a big compliment to Mustipher.
In typical Belichick fashion, he was far from only praising the Penn State NFL Draft prospect. Bekichick offered both constructive criticism and comments to Mustipher.
A brief segment of their interaction can be seen below.
