With Penn State on a bye week getting to prepare for the teeth of their schedule, here is the action from around the Big Ten.

Nebraska 14, Rutgers 13 (Friday Night)

Casey Thompson threw two second-half touchdowns as Nebraska came back and beat Rutgers on the road. Rutgers has now lost 21 consecutive home conference games. Nebraska’s defense held Rutgers scoreless in the second half which contributed to the victory.

Michigan 31, Indiana 10
Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy threw for a career-high 304 yards and three touchdowns as Michigan pulled away to beat the Hoosiers on Saturday. Blake Corum rushed for 124 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown. Michigan has started 6-0 for the second consecutive season something that has not happened since 1976-1977.

Purdue 31, Maryland 29
Payne Durhan caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Aiden O’Connell with 3:19 remaining to give Purdue a big win over Maryland. Maryland scored with 35 seconds left when Taulia Tagovailoa connected with Corey Dyches on an 18-yard touchdown pass, however, the two-point conversion failed, and Purdue came up with the win.

Wisconsin 42, Northwestern 7

Interim Head coach Jim Léonard won his debut game as Braelon Allen game as Braelon Allen rushed for 135 yards and Ghrahm Mertz threw for five touchdowns. Northwestern is now 6-16 since winning the Big Ten West in 2020.

Ohio State 49, Michigan State 20

CJ Stroud threw for six touchdowns as the Buckeyes cruised to an easy victory. The Buckeyes won despite not having Miyan Williams and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Trayon Henderson rushed for 114 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown. Michigan State has dropped four straight games after a 2-0 start.

Illinois 9, Iowa 6

Backup kicker Fabrizo Pinton’s field goal with 2:36 remaining lifted Illinois to a low-scoring slugfest win over Iowa. Illinois held Iowa to 222 total yards and running back Chase Brown rushed for 146 yards.
